In September, I had the privilege of representing New Zealand at the Indoor Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka. This was more than just a sporting event. It was a life-changing experience that proved with hard work, dedication, and the support of others, anything is possible. Our journey wasn’t just about cricket, it was about coming together, overcoming obstacles, and making the most of every moment.
Arriving in Sri Lanka, we were immediately swept up in the vibrant culture and the passionate spirit of the tournament. The competition was fierce, with teams from all over the world competing at the highest level of indoor cricket. Every match was an adrenaline rush, and the atmosphere in the arena was electric.
Our team had one goal, to go and bring home the big trophy. While we couldn’t quite clinch that top spot, finishing second in the world was an incredible achievement that reflected all the hard work, passion and dedication we had poured into preparing for this tournament. And while the Aussie’s got the gold, the memories and lessons we made and lessons learned counted for far more than any trophy ever could!
