The annual University of Canterbury: School of Law, Mortlock McCormack Law Child and Family Award in Honour of Hugh Cottrell, was awarded to Kirsty Jacomb and Grace Watson in 2019.
Mortlock McCormack Law established the prize in 2017, in honour of Hugh Crispe Cottrell (1946–2011) who was a partner of the firm. Hugh Cottrell was a well-respected Christchurch lawyer and was appointed a Notary Public early in his career. Hugh’s love of people and the law drew him to focus on family law, where he was regularly appointed to act as both mediator and lawyer for children.
Congratulations Grace and Kirsty!
