Our team is the most important component of our business. Every staff member makes an important contribution toward delivering exceptional legal services, regardless of whether they are qualified legal professionals or our support and administrative staff. Collectively it is a team effort and our combined experience stands us in good stead to lead in the provision of legal services.
Michaela is currently on Parental Leave.
Michaela has spent the better part of the last decade with MML, first joining the team as a Launchpad student in 2009. In 2014 she joined the commercial and property team, until she headed off on her OE at the end of 2016.
Michaela qualified as a Legal Executive in 2017 and became registered in 2020.
Outside of work Michaela loves travelling, good wine, outdoor adventures, keeping fit and cooking for her friends and family.
Bianca started with MML as an Office Junior in 2001, returned to MML in 2009 and is now one of our Legal Executives, working in Trust Law.
Bianca recently married her wife Jamie-Lee, is a super aunty to her many nieces and nephews and plans to have children of her own one day.
Bianca likes to stay active and also enjoys having a drink with friends and family while supporting Queensland (State of Origin), the Crusaders and the All Blacks.
Elaine joined us with 4 years experience in another Christchurch firm and prior to that 8 years with the Department of Justice in her homeland of South Africa.
Outside of work Elaine enjoys swimming, reading, baking, kayaking and other outdoor adventures.
Maddy joined MML at the beginning of 2020 as our Office Junior, shortly after finishing up at Burnside High School. Maddy has consistently proved how much of an asset she is to the firm and our clients and has quickly moved to a Legal Secretary role.
In her spare time Maddy enjoys shopping, spending time with her friends and a bit of social netball and skiing. She also loves to bake, which we all really enjoy benefitting from.
Tania has worked for around 25 years in the legal profession, both in Christchurch and Wellington. Her main focus has been residential conveyancing but she also supported a commercial Principal in one of New Zealand’s largest corporate law firms, while in Wellington.
Outside of work Tania is kept busy with her two teenage sons and is family orientated. She must get in her 10,000 steps each day and enjoys being the CEO of the Cunningham household!
Liz joined us after 15 years’ experience with other law firms in Christchurch. Liz passed her Legal Executive certificate in 2010 and works with us as a Legal Secretary.
Outside of work Liz enjoys home renovations, redecorating, gardening, reading and socialising with friends and family.
Teresa celebrated 20 years with the firm in 2017. The experience and knowledge Teresa holds in accounts receivable/administration, payroll and GST is valued at MML, as is her work ethic.
Teresa is married to Stephen with two adult sons, is an avid rugby and tennis supporter, loves travel and enjoys a good gin.
Jess first came to Mortlock McCormack Law as a Launchpad Student then stayed on in accounts administration before heading overseas to travel, work and enjoy life. After returning to Christchurch and gaining further experience in trust administration, Jess has settled back into life at MML seamlessly.
Outside of work Jess enjoys snow boarding, catching up with friends for a social wine or two and playing with her cat, George.
Ruth joined Mortlock McCormack Law as our Office Junior in 2022 after completing a certificate in mental health and wellbeing support at Ara.
In her spare time Ruth enjoys going shopping, playing social netball and spending time with her family and friends. Ruth is also an animal lover and enjoys taking her dogs Magic, Jed and Finn for walks.
Catherine is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the firm, this includes IT, marketing, office procedures and leadership of the administration functions of the firm.
Outside of work Catherine enjoys cooking and eating out, with a glass of wine. She also enjoys walking some of Canterbury’s day tracks and spending time with her dogs Bella and Alfie.
Sarah Wenborn (nee Carr) started as a “Launchpad” Student with Sue McCormack in 2002. Evolving and working in a number of roles during her time with the firm (Office Junior, Receptionist, Legal Secretary/PA (Family/Litigation), Office Support Manager and Office Manager), together with completing her Diploma in Human Resource Management through CPIT (now Ara Institute of Canterbury); Sarah returned from parental leave as our HR Manager.
Outside of work Sarah loves spending time with her family – especially story, song and dance time with daughters Winnie, Poppy and Maddi, loves dominating in all board games (Catan being one of her favourites), has played indoor and outdoor netball to a high level, assists in the organisation of her beloved club Kereru Netball, and enjoys travel, good food and relaxing in the sunshine.
